Virtual Assistant Blog – Introducing Bethany’s Blogs
I’m really excited to be finally writing my own virtual assistant blog as I have very a specific vision for it (get ready to find out all the deets) but to sum it up, it’s going to be a space without bullshit, maybe a few laughs, a few inspirational moments and lots of free advice- sound good?
Good!
Let’s dive straight in…
Introducing the Bethany behind the Virtual Assistant Blog
Like many people, my business journey started well before I actually started my business…which might not make much sense but allow me to explain.
I had decided to do a masters in digital marketing, which as a tech VA and web developer you’d think would be right up my street (I did too) but I was very wrong. The reality of it was that I only did the masters because I didn’t really know what else to do with my life and I hated it. Like, really hated it.
I had also started working 2 days a week developing and managing a website for a small online business.
Later on, I found another company to work with who wanted me for the other three days (so I was working 5 days a week and doing a full-time masters and let’s just say it was a very busy time).
I learnt a lot with them but I felt I wasn’t able to really grow and I couldn’t take on any extra freelance work without written permission. I understood why but it was quite limiting and just definitely not what I wanted to do full time!
Unsurprisingly, all of this quickly left me feeling drained and took all the passion out of what I used to love. That’s when I decided enough was enough and I quit.
Obviously, this left me jobless and wondering what to do next so I decided to start up an Instagram page. At the time, my main focus was working as a website developer and I had one or two clients but I was still blowing through my savings which leads me into…
What I’m up to now
I think it’s safe to say I sort of fell into becoming a tech VA but it was one of the least painful falls I’ve experienced (I said there would be some humour…I never said it would be stand up comedy level).
Once this happened everything started to slide into place. I was working with some great clients and getting to use the knowledge I’d learned during my time working for the agencies and businesses I mentioned earlier.
But this time, I was working without feeling like I was drained. I was waking up whenever the hell I wanted to, working with a variety of people, every day was different and I didn’t (and still don’t) feel stuck or bored or frustrated…and it’s lush!
So now you know a bit about me and how I’ve got to this point let’s move on to…
Introducing the VA blog
It’s a new year and I’m all about taking my business up a notch and that includes a virtual assistant blog (although, you are reading this so you’ll already know that by now).
I really wanted to create this virtual assistant blog to act as a space to help other people who want to become tech VAs in a really accessible, easy way that is also completely free! Maybe adding in a few affiliate links along the way but that doesn’t cost you a thing!
Because one thing that I found so frustrating when I was starting out in this industry was the amount you had to pay to get any sort of answers or knowledge. And that’s not what we’re about here!
So here’s what you can expect from this blog:
- Free advice on how to grow your business as a tech VA
- Behind the scenes of Bethany’s Websites
- Business updates (including quarterly round-ups where I’ll talk about what I’ve earned, what’s gone well and what has gone…not so well)
- How you can work with me
- Website tips and general info
Let’s get technical
I also wanted to take a minute to talk about the tech I use (as a tech VA, it’s a pretty integral part of my everyday life).
Naturally, I use a lot of tech platforms and resources, more than the ones that are even on the list I’m about to share. But these are some of my favourites and the ones I’m most skilled in!
